Power & backup
TANGEDCO supply is adequate in the city, but mandapam-grade sanctioned loads are small — often well under 100 kVA against an event wanting several times that. Generator hire is a mature local trade and cheap by metro standards, though canopy quality varies wildly: specify silent and verify the actual rating rather than accepting the label, because residential proximity around temple-area halls will otherwise become the problem.
Permits & noise rules
Madurai Corporation issues ground and pandal permissions, the city police handle licensing, and the Tamil Nadu noise rules plus the 10 pm amplified-sound limit are enforced — particularly inside the temple precinct, where processions and timings take priority over your schedule. Madurai airport lies about 12 km south, so drone flights need DGCA clearance checked against its approach. Builds on the temple's outer streets also need the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments administration's view.
Load-in & access
The Veli streets ringing the temple are closed to anything larger than a tempo and choked for most of the day, so old-city jobs become a shuttle operation from a staging yard on the bypass. Mandapam load-in windows usually open only the night before a morning muhurat, which means an overnight build and a pre-dawn soundcheck. Tamukkam fairs, by contrast, allow generous multi-day builds.
Local expectations
Tamil wedding production is built around morning muhurat windows, nadaswaram and thavil ensembles that must be miked without feedback in a reverberant mandapam, and an evening reception that wants a bright, saturated LED look. Clients expect legible Tamil typography on screen, and the elders' comfort with level matters more than the DJ's — keep front-row SPL honest.
